Tips to Applicants

Understanding the GCF Recruitment Process

I have found a position in your career site that matches my qualifications and interests, how can I apply?

  • The “Apply” button in each job posting will take you through the step-by-step application process, and you will be asked to fill in your personal details, educational background and work experience. You will also be requested to attach your CV/resume.

It is my first time to apply for a job in GCF, anything I need to know?

  • If you have not applied with GCF via this system before, you will need to create an account first. Once registered, you can create a ‘Candidate Profile’ which holds the relevant information regarding your application.

From which countries does the GCF hire from?

  • GCF hires from all nationalities worldwide. We value diversity and inclusion and do not discriminate based on nationality.

How is the typical recruitment process?

  • GCF uses several stages of interviews (recorded, video and onsite), testing, and reference checking for the recruitment process. Total recruitment time is from two to four months.

How is my application assessed?

  • We assess your qualifications and compare these with the requirements of the position, with the goal of finding the most suitable candidate. The final hiring decision is reached by looking at all the available inputs: CV, letters, references, interview outcomes, etc.

When can I expect to hear from you?

  • We try to get back to applicants within two weeks of the advertisement deadline, but please bear with us if it takes us a little longer to respond.

Do you charge application fees?

  • The Green Climate Fund does not charge any processing or application fee at any stage of the recruitment process. If you encounter any vacancy advertisement with our name on it, requesting payments, these are fraudulous.

Can the GCF accept applications in languages other than English?

  • The official working language of the GCF is in English and only English applications will be accepted.

Will the GCF send me updates about my application?

  • Yes, candidates will receive updates about their application. This may happen during or at the end of the recruitment process, which may be up to 4 months.

Will I be required to relocate to South Korea when I get hired?

  • Yes. All GCF staff are based in the Republic of Korea.

What should I keep in mind when moving to and living in South Korea?

  • New GCF staff members will receive ample information to support their relocation to South Korea. There are also internal resources available for GCF staff that offer guidance and services for their daily needs. Nevertheless, GCF encourages new staff members to conduct their own research as part of their preparations. For example, ‘key money’ payment is a unique feature of the rental system in South Korea. This pertains to the initial large lump sum deposit paid by the tenant to the lessor, on top of the monthly rent payment. The key money is returned to the tenant when the lease contract ends. Suffice to say, rental payments vary depending on the type and location of the property.
