INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Green Climate Fund internship program provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. We encourage qualified women and men, in particular, nationals of developing countries, with diverse professional, academic, and cultural backgrounds to apply. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GCF's operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Fund and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment.

To be eligible for an internship, candidates must:

  • Be enrolled in a Master's or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Fund's work
  • Possess an excellent command of English

GCF provides a USD 1,000 per month allowance to all interns and a roundtrip air ticket from their place of recruitment. See what our past interns have to say about their experience:

  • "By getting the chance to assist the legal team with its day-to-day legal tasks I not only gained valuable, practical legal experience but I was also able to build a solid foundation for my future career. The diverse staff of the Fund also helped me develop my open-mindedness towards global issues and inspired me to work hard in the future. The internship exceeded all my expectations and I left Korea with a big smile on my face.
Most importantly, these experiences opened my eyes to possible future career paths in the area of climate change and finance and, thus, after having graduated and gained some more legal work experience it was an obvious choice for me to join the Green Climate Fund as an Associate Counsel."
  • “My internship at the Green Climate Fund was a very enriching experience. I had the opportunity to discover the exciting environment of an international organization and was able to develop my professional competencies by carrying out a great diversity of tasks.
I strongly believe that my experience at the Fund will be a valuable asset as I start my working career.”
  • “I had an internship with the Private Sector Facility division at GCF and it’s beyond my expectation! I joined when the organization and division are growing – so there were lots of interesting stuff to do. I got a chance to work with excellent colleagues, did client and field visits, received some trainings, and learned a lot about climate finance and how to engage the private sector. More than that, I managed to have a lot of fun too – one of them is my hobby: football, in which I trained every Wednesday with my colleagues here!
If you want to work in the area of climate finance and help tackle climate change issues, GCF is the best place to be!”
