Internship Assignment

The intern will provide support to the portfolio analytic function of the Division of Portfolio Management (DPM). S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand their experiences by assisting the Results and Data Management (RDM) team with a range of operational and analytical tasks necessary for the appropriate management of information with respect to the GCF portfolio. The intern will work in collaboration with other streams in DPM, as well as operational divisions such as the Division of Mitigation and Adaptation (DMA) and Division of Private Sector Facility (PSF) as required. The Intern will also assist with the conceptualization and operationalization of various data analytics initiatives and automation work. Specifically, under the overall guidance of the Portfolio Results Data Analyst within DPM, the intern is expected to:

 

•   Undertake portfolio data extraction, collection, validation, and analysis to support the compilation of portfolio analysis reports and presentation materials for both internal and external audiences.

•    In collaboration with the Portfolio Implementation Monitoring and Management (PIMM) team and the Division of Mitigation and Adaptation (DMA), Private Sector Facility (PSF), contribute to the effective portfolio monitoring functions through updating and analysing the portfolio status for funded activities, readiness preparatory support programme and project preparation facilities.

•     Assist the team to operationalize the refined concept of portfolio status /performance dashboards and analytics through support to the development of an internal data collection template, indicator frameworks, and or working with an external vendor as required.

•    Liaise with other divisions such as the Division of External Affairs (DEA) and or Office of Executive Director (OED) to populate portfolio-related information and support the internal reporting and data feed processes.

•     Contributing to the knowledge management initiatives of the RDM including support to development of knowledge products and reports.

•     Undertake additional research and operational tasks related to portfolio data management as assigned by the supervisor.

 

 

Requirements and qualifications*

 

a)    Enrolled in or recently graduated Masters’ program in Economics, Management, Climate Policy, Environmental Science, Information Science, Development Studies, or related fields;

b)      Knowledge and experience with data analysis and research; experience in monitoring and evaluation of development projects would be an added advantage;

c)      Good understanding and experience in operations of international organizations is an added advantage;

d)      Proficiency in using standard software programs such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Tableau, and or other data management tools;

e)       Excellent writing and presentation skills;

f)        Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular, French and Spanish is an advantage.
