Internship Assignment

The Intern will provide analytical and operational support to the Operations unit in the Office of the Executive Director. S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his experiences by providing assistance in relation to project pipeline management, strategic planning for the GCF second replenishment period, tracking of corporate KPIs, management of the Secretariat investment committees, and monitoring implementation of GCF policies.

 

Under the overall guidance from the Operations Coodinator within the Office of the Executive Director, the Intern is expected to support:

a)         Regular updates and analysis of the GCF project pipeline under the Strategic Plan for 2020-2023;

b)         Analysis, drafting and coordination of programming tasks related to strategic planning for the GCF second replenishment process and update of the GCF Strategic Plan for 2024-2027;

c)         Implementation of the Secretariat annual work programme, including implementation planning, tracking progress toward KPIs and contributing to the Report on the Activities of the Secretariat;

d)         Administration of the Climate Investment and Operations Committees, including setting agendas, arranging meetings and following up on the decisions of the committees;

e)         Planning and monitoring implementation of policies approved by the GCF Board;

f)          Supporting other strategic and corporate priorities of the Office of the Executive Director as needed.

 

Requirements and qualifications*

 

a)         Enrolled in or recently graduated Master’s program in International Relations, Law, Finance, Economics, Science or related fields;

b)         Knowledge and experience in analyzing complex problems, data and processes; and coordinating collaboration between multiple stakeholders;

c)         Ability to multitask and deliver within tight timelines, while demonstrating attention to detail;

d)         Excellent drafting, presentation and communication skills;

e)         Good understanding and experience in climate change, climate finance and/or designing and implementing projects in developing countries is an added advantage;

f)          Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Asana or other project management software;

g)         Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage.

 

 

* Applicants currently located in the duty station (South Korea) are only eligible to apply. Nevertheless, GCF still aims to attract candidates from diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
