Internship Assignment

The Intern will provide analytical, drafting and operational support to the Policy and Strategy Unit in the Office of the Executive Director. S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his experiences by providing assistance in relation to strategic planning for the GCF second replenishment period, development of the Secretariat’s annual work programme and tracking of corporate KPIs, and management of the Secretariat policy agenda and resources.

 

            Under the overall guidance from the Head of Policy and Strategy within the Office of the Executive Director, the Intern is expected to support:

a)         Analysis, drafting and coordination of tasks related to strategic planning for the GCF second replenishment process and update of the GCF Strategic Plan for 2024-2027, as well as delivery of tasks related to implementing the Strategic Plan for 2020-2023;

b)         Development and implementation of the Secretariat annual work programme, including compilation of inputs, drafting, implementation planning, tracking progress toward KPIs and contributing to the Report on the Activities of the Secretariat;

c)         Supporting the work of the Climate Policy Committee, management of the Secretariat’s policy agenda, and enhancement of the Secretariat’s policy resources and knowledge management practices;

d)         Supporting other strategic and corporate priorities of the Office of the Executive Director, including project management of cross-Secretariat change initiatives.

 

Requirements and qualifications*

 

a)         Enrolled or recently graduated in Master’s program in International Relations, Law, Finance, Economics, Science or related fields;

b)         Knowledge and experience in analyzing complex problems, data and processes; and coordinating collaboration between multiple stakeholders;

c)         Ability to multitask and deliver within tight timelines, while demonstrating attention to detail;

d)         Excellent drafting, presentation and communication skills;

e)         Good understanding and experience in climate change, climate finance and operations of intentional organization is an added advantage;

f)          Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Asana or other project management software;

g)         Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage.

 

* Applicants currently located in the duty station (South Korea) are only eligible to apply. Nevertheless, GCF still aims to attract candidates from diverse backgrounds and nationalities.
