The mission of the Green Climate Fund is to assist developing countries to respond to climate change while bringing prosperity to their people.

Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies.  It is country-driven and undertakes actions that reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 190 projects and has committed USD 10.0 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries to identify their needs, in particular, those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Position Objective

The Team Assistant is responsible for providing logistical, operational, and administrative support to the IIU. They will be expected to contribute substantively to the work of the unit, liaising with IIU partners and clients, preparing presentations, supporting communication efforts, performing administrative tasks to facilitate the timely delivery of programmes, the coordination of workstreams, and the effective management of IIU resources.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Purpose

  • Execute administrative processes to support timely implementation of programmes and effective management of resources, including in the areas of procurement, budget administration, client coordination, and human resources; and
  • Organise logistical priorities for IIU engagements and projects, such as conferences, Board Meetings, official travels, and collaborative activities with partners.

Engagement

  • Coordinate the flow of information between IIU workstreams to aid in decision making and project delivery, providing clarity on process requirements and streamlining internal communications;
  • Communicate with focal points from within the organisation and external partners to coordinate information and support achievement of project objectives; and
  • Facilitate IIU’s procurement and recruitment processes in collaboration with the GCF’s Procurement and Human Resources units.

Delivery

  • Format, proof-read, and edit documents, reports, and correspondences for adherence with established standards of grammar and style;
  • Implement project dashboards to track progress and achieve consistent and timely delivery of milestones; and
  • Collaboratively prepare content for the IIU’s website, and social media pages.

 

Required experience and qualifications*

  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience within an international organization, development agency, governmental, private or non-profit sectors;
  • Formal training in project management, clerical, administrative, and/or operational services desirable;
  • Strong commitment to projects and ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and discretion; and
  • Fluency in English is required, with knowledge of another United Nations language as an advantage.
