Background

 

The Green Climate Fund (GCF)—a critical element of the historic Paris Agreement—is the world’s largest climate fund mandated to support low-emission, climate-resilient development pathways. As an operating entity of the financial mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), GCF contributes to the goal of keeping an average global temperature rise well below two degrees Celsius.

The Fund seeks to engage the BI Analyst Consultant to join its team at headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea, for a period of 12 months.
 

 

Role

 

The consultant will be assisting the Principal Software Architect by managing and optimizing data for business intelligence and analysis. This consultancy involves transforming and maintaining data systems to enhance business intelligence capabilities, as well as connecting and integrating data sources to facilitate comprehensive data analysis. The BI Analyst consultant will coordinate the deployment and maintenance of software and data analytics tools, while also developing and managing data pipelines and processes to meet the Fund's requirements. Additionally, the role includes supporting data collaboration, categorization, and insights generation, and providing metrics and analytical support to enhance the Fund’s operations. This role is crucial in supporting driving data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency within the organization.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

Under the overall guidance of the Directory of Information Technology, the BI Analyst consultant will be responsible for but not limited to: 
 
•    Maintain and evolve data pipelines based upon analysis of end-user requirements and needs across relevant internal divisions, offices, and units; 
•    Provide clean and comprehensible data to end users 
•    Model, transform, extract, and integrate operational and project data; 
•    Support the use of data for business intelligence and decision making; 
•    Participate in the development of business intelligence internal documents, plans, visualizations, and reports;

 

 

Required experience and qualifications

 

•    Bachelor or Master’s (preferred) level degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Analytics, Computer Science, or related fields. 
•    At least two (2) years of relevant work experience with business intelligence, data analytics, report and customer experienced software is preferred. 
•    Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure, SQL, and database management. 
•    Experience with the broader Microsoft ecosystem and data tools such as SharePoint, Power BI, Synapse Analytics, and Purview is desirable. 
•    Proficiency with BI and data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau. 
•    Excellent writing and communication skills in English; knowledge of another UN language an advantage; 
•    Good understanding and experience of operations of international organizations is an added advantage. 
•    Ability to work in a multicultural environment with diverse stakeholders, and to work independently and take the initiative in response to Fund's needs.
