The Green Climate Fund (“GCF”) is a multilateral fund created to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts towards attaining the goals set by the international community to combat climate change.
GCF will contribute to the achievement of the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, GCF will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.
GCF is governed by a Board, composed of an equal representation of developed and developing countries. The Fund is operated by an independent Secretariat headed by an Executive Director.
The Secretariat of the Fund seeks to recruit a Facilities and Administration Assistant Consultant to join its team at its headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea. The assignment is initially set for 230 days over a 12-month period.
Role
The Facilities and Administration Consultant will support the various workstreams of the General Services Team, and by extension the functionality and effectiveness of the Headquarters, through the performance of manual, interpersonal and administrative tasks.
Duties and responsibilities
The Facilities and Administration Consultant will report directly to the Manager of the General Services Team. The Facilities and Administration Consultant will provide support across function workstreams, including but not limited to:
- Proactively ensure that GCF premises are tidy and functional.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as mail, printing, and data entry.
- Accompany attending suppliers and service providers.
- Liaise with building management and facilities contractors.
- Perform basic manual tasks, e.g., furniture rearrangement and anomaly triage.
- Take stock of inventory, such as stationery, first aid kits, printing paper.
- Assist with facilities and administration requirements during events.
- Assist with receiving and accompanying visitors to GCF premises.
- Perform courier duties for document collection (e.g., Songdo to Seoul).
- Serve at the Reception desk, when required.
Required experience and qualifications
- Fluency in English and Korean language is essential.
- Korean driver’s license is essential.
- Master’s Degree with 1 year or Bachelor’s with additional 2 years of relevant experience.
- One to Three Years of relevant experience, preferably in an international working environment.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage expectations and actively listen.
- Flexibility to work outside of regular working hours, when required.
