Introduction
The Green Climate Fund is the world’s largest dedicated multilateral climate fund and invests in impactful, innovative, catalytic programs and projects in developing countries across the globe. By the end of 2023, GCF had a portfolio of 243 projects in 129 countries, committing a total of USD 13.5 billion to date.

Position Objective

The process improvement Specialist will be the in charge of the Secretariat’s operational excellence program within the context of profound organizational changes and imperative need to apply a risk-based internal control system. She/he will collaborate with teams across the Secretariat to improve process efficiency. 


Purpose 

  • Lead the transformation of Secretariat’s business processes to deliver on the Executive Director’s strategic vision of “50 b y30”;

  • Apply and leverage Lean/six-sigma (or similar) methodology to drive process transformation;

  • Assess current business processes, workflows, and systems to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement and efficiency gains;

  • Evaluate opportunities to transform the baseline processes into best-in class within new organizational structure;

  • Gather and analyze data, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to quantify process inefficiencies and track improvements over time. 

 

Engagement

  • Advises and collaborate with operational teams to develop and propose practical solutions, including process redesign, automation, or technology enhancements;

  • Facilitate change management efforts by communicating proposed improvements, obtaining buy-in from stakeholders, and ensuring successful implementation;

  • Engage with Sister Funds to benchmark best practices and promote GCF standards.

 

Delivery

  • Introduce the Lean/Sigma (or similar) methodology to the GCF, sharing knowledge and training operational teams;

  • Champions process continuous improvement, operational excellence and innovation;

  • Develop, implement and maintain a robust continuous Process Improvement Framework which comprises the following components: strategic alignment, governance best practices, process framework, change management approach, performance and maturity tracking, process improvement approach and tools and technology;

  • Based on robust past experience, share industry best practices based and lead their implementation throughout the programming and institutional processes of the Secretariat;

  • Lead targeted improvement projects, employing methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Total Quality Management (TQM). 

 

Requirements (Education, experience, technical competencies required of the job)

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field. A Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields with an additional 2 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree requirement.

  • Proven at least seven (7) years of relevant experience in process improvement, business process reengineering, or related roles.

  • Proficiency in process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or TQM. Certification in these methodologies is desirable.

  • Familiarity with process automation and technology solutions

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and present data.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to work collaboratively across departments.

  • Change management expertise with the ability to lead and influence others.

  • Excellent English.
