Background
The Green Climate Fund (GCF)—a critical element of the historic Paris Agreement—is the world’s largest climate fund mandated to support low-emission, climate-resilient development pathways. As an operating entity of the financial mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), GCF contributes to the goal of keeping an average global temperature rise well below two degrees Celsius.
The Fund seeks to engage the BI Analyst Consultant to join its team at headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea, for a period of 12 months.
Role
The consultant will provide operational support to the Software Development Team within the Department of IT. In this assignment, the consultant will assist in the development of internal platforms of the Fund and will be exposed to different areas of development work pertaining to AI-related software development, including but not limited to frontend, backend, API management, UI/UX development, and CI/CD pipelines configuration.
Duties and responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the Principal Software Architect within the Department of IT Software Development Team, the consultant is expected to:
a) Process (?) implementation enhancement requests and feature improvements as requested by different business units.
b) Assist with the research, evaluation and integration of software libraries, frameworks, and solutions for ongoing and new projects.
c) Write comprehensive documentation and perform rigorous testing of new and existing applications and features.
d) Develop, maintain, and optimize AI-powered functionality for internal web applications managed by the team (e.g., Azure AI Search, Azure Open AI).
e) Provide technical support and troubleshooting for currently deployed applications.
f) Support the Development Team in other administrative and operational tasks as required.
Required experience and qualifications
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• At least two (2) years of experience with TypeScript, Python, and/or PHP programming languages. Experience with the PHPMaker framework will be a plus.
• Experience utilizing modern software development tools such as Github, VSCode, Asana, and other version control and collaboration platforms.
• Cloud platform environments (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services).
• Experience with CI/CD Deployment pipelines (Azure Devops, Github Actions) for automated testing and deployment.
• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB).
• At least one (1) year of experience working in an international organization, multinational company, or cross-border project environment is highly desirable.
• Excellent writing and presentation skills.
• Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of other United Nations languages is an advantage.
