The Green Climate Fund (“GCF”) is a multilateral fund created to make a significant and ambitious contribution to the global efforts towards attaining the goals set by the international community to combat climate change.  GCF will contribute to the achievement of the ultimate objective of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). In the context of sustainable development, GCF will promote the paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate-resilient development pathways by providing support to developing countries to limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of climate change, taking into account the needs of those developing countries particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.  

 

GCF is governed by a Board, composed of an equal representation of developed and developing countries. The Fund is operated by an independent Secretariat headed by an Executive Director. The Secretariat of the Fund seeks to recruit a Travel Support Consultant to join its team at its headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea. Role

 

The Secretariat of the Fund seeks to recruit a Travel and Events Assistant Consultant to join its team at its

headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea, for a period of 12 months.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

The Consultant will report to the Events Management Specialist (Head of Events Management and Travel Unit). The Consultant will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Supporting the review of travel requests and processing travel authorizations in accordance with the GCF travel policy;
  • Assisting in the communication with travelers for relevant clarifications and the travel agency to issue the tickets and verify invoices for monthly billing;
  • Assisting with the planning and organization of GCF events in accordance with the standard processes in place;
  • Supporting the team as deemed necessary. This may include organizing meetings, preparing relevant documentation, liaising with other teams on the operational aspects such as procurement, taking minutes at meetings, and circulating summaries;
  • Providing general assistance on site at selected physical events and facilitating any other related operational tasks as assigned by the Events Management Specialist.

 

Required experience and qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Experience in events management and/or travel industry (airline, travel agency) is strongly preferred;
  • Experience working with Oracle-based, SAP-based or similar ERP systems is preferred;
  • Experience in an international setting, ability to work independently and take initiative;
  • Strong competence and autonomy in the use of standard software programmes: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access; good internet search skill is a plus; ability to use video-editing software a distinct advantage;
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills;
  • Fluency in English is essential (written and spoken); working knowledge of another UN language as well as working knowledge of Korean an advantage;
  • Flexibility and availability to work outside of the regular working hours is required for this position.
