The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate action and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low-emission and climate-resilient societies.  It is country-driven and undertakes actions which reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national aspirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

 

Since its establishment, the GCF has approved 102 projects and has committed USD 5.0 billion in climate finance. In addition, it has built up an extensive program to support developing countries identify their needs, in particular those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

Duties and responsibilities

The Compensation and Benefits (C&B) Senior Assistant is responsible for providing timely and appropriate execution of HR administrative tasks in support of the organization’s compensation and benefits programme as well as the programme delivery. S/he will also support the HR Business partner in providing advice to business units on people related issues by executing necessary processes in all areas of the staff life cycle. The C&B Senior Assistant will be reporting to the C&B Specialist/HR Business Partner.

  • Research, analyze and synthesize data to support the development and reviews of the Fund’s C&B strategy and related policies;
  • Compile information/data on staff compensation and benefits by ensuring quality, correctness, confidentiality of information to deliver successful C&B programmes;
  • Educate staff members on HR policies, processes and use of the HR systems which would involve preparation and delivery of appropriate guidelines and information;
  • Compile and organize the business process requirements to support the development and review of HR systems and online tools;
  • Draft internal administrative instructions and memoranda on topics related to C&B matters;
  • Oversee and consolidate staff changes on a monthly basis in preparation of the payroll and submission to Finance and ensure quality of C&B related HR database;
  • Liaise and communicate with service providers such as insurance providers on data and the delivery of service;
  • Oversee day-to-day HR processes to ensure timely execution of deliverables and provide feedback on issues in order to improve service quality;
  • Support the C&B Specialist in any special projects like Job Evaluation and grading;

 

 

Required experience and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business/Public Administration, or a related field;
  • Seven (7) years of relevant experience, including at least two (2) years in HR function (compensation and benefits management, HRIS and policy); or equivalent combination of Master’s degree and relevant experience;
  • Understanding of the principles of good HR management and ability to apply them in daily work;
  • Excellent business writing and Presentation Skills;
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP Success Factors HRIS would be an advantage;
  • Confidentiality and discretion are an absolute requirement in this role;
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of local language and/or another United Nations language is an advantage;
